I have an office practice where we give away a lot of services eg_ calling in meds for patients as they leave the office so they dont have to do that etc etc. I havent decided whether that is good marketing( it sure works for our senior partner!) or an inability to change with the times.In these days of declining reimbursement I am trying to gracefully figure a way to cut down on unreimbursed activity. So first I need to tabulate a list of things where we go above and beyond for the patient.Please add your observations. Thanks
My growing list
1.calling in meds to pharmacies for patient convenience
2.calling patients with normal results..these days I am beginning to see the wisdom of having them come back in for a face to face visit.
3. Lab services
4. working on authorisations

IMHO, activities that are technically unreimbursed can make a major difference in how patients view your practice. If you're able to offer a higher level of service than others, that could theoretically make you more attractive to patients and in balance, increase your bottom line.
